Description
Summary:This paper describes the implementation and functionality of a base-band network for the remote control of scientific instruments, in particular scanning and transmission electron microscopes. The base-band network is a hard-wired connection between keyboard and pointing devices from the remote computers to the CPU of the instrument computer; the video signal is then routed back to the remote user and to a high resolution projection system. The system is independent of software and hardware platform, and is highly reliable.
