Emerson and the Inhibitions of Democracy
The works of Ralph Waldo Emerson are examined. Political expressions seem to have been a major part of his writing on democracy. While Emerson never claimed to have the secret for public or private success, his ideas on solitude and moral law are both democratic and redeeming.
