Description
Summary:Gosnell discusses of the European Union, and the cultural, political, and economic relevance of the concept of Empire and colonization in the modern era. Colonization has usually had a negative connotation, mostly from the violence of colonial empires in such places as Africa and Asia. However, national identities have been permanently influenced by the colonial experience. An example of this is French culture, which has been as influenced by post-colonial African culture as much as it has influenced former African colonies. With the growth of the European Union, and the effects of globalization and American imperialsim shaping the world, Gosnell examines the idea of post-colonialism and nationalism within Europe.
