Plasma Dispersion for Druyvesteyn Type Velocity Distribution
Plasma dispersion relations are presented for a non-Maxwellian velocity distribution; that is for a Druyvesteyn velocity distribution, because this type of distribution often appears in low-pressure plasmas, while a Maxwellian distribution is considered to be of the ideal form. The plasma dispersion...

description | Plasma dispersion relations are presented for a non-Maxwellian velocity distribution; that is for a Druyvesteyn velocity distribution, because this type of distribution often appears in low-pressure plasmas, while a Maxwellian distribution is considered to be of the ideal form. The plasma dispersion function is obtained for a Druyvesteyn type distribution, and asymptotic and series expansions of the plasma dispersion are calculated. Using these expansions, the dispersion relations of electron and ion acoustic waves are calculated and compared with those of the Maxwellian distribution. Furthermore, problems regarding the plasma boundary and related problems as well are considered. |
