Description
Summary:This editorial presents the intentions of the new editors for the Canadian Psychology journal. Under the previous editors, there was a dazzling fourfold increase in the journal’s impact factor. This is no small success, especially because the journal publishes primarily Canadian content and includes papers both in French and in English. When a journal has such a strong foundation, there is only one way it can go from that point on: higher. Our intention is to build on the work and legacy of our predecessors. To help accomplish this, we first carefully selected the members of our new editorial board. The journal will also include at least two special issues per year. For example, the first issue of the journal is traditionally devoted to presidential and award addresses from the Canadian Psychological Association convention (e.g., see Canadian Psychology, 52(1), 2011 and Canadian Psychology 51(1), 2010). In addition to that first special issue presenting the recipients of CPA awards, we plan to publish a second special issue each year. For example, a special issue on progress tracking and monitoring in clinical practice is slated for publication in 2012. The journal will publish different types of papers, including regular articles (and invited papers), brief reports, commentaries and replies, and book reviews. The journal will also publish obituaries. While regular empirical articles are generally not suitable for publication in Canadian Psychology, there will be exceptions.
