”. One half of the Prize was awarded to James Peebles for “
theoretical discoveries in physical cosmology
” and the other half jointly to Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz for “
the discovery of an exoplanet orbiting a solar-type star
”. These are related to some of the most fundamental questions, namely the structure, constitution and evolution of the Universe and the formation of planets and the origin of life itself. |
