Summary:Contrast going on for decades: after old concepts of economic and political integration of central Europe, there has been a shift to the acceptance of the thesis that Central Europe is only a cultural area. After 1968, the mental direction switched to Austria and old Bundesrepublik which should play central role in complex restoration of Central Europe. New start after 1989, present situation and perspectives: V4 as an illusion and organisation verging on inefficiency from the beginning. Hardly perceived deep differences between individual V4 countries. Mental relations to the Great Britain as naive ideas or results of anti-German resentiment.
